If the timing belt on my 98 Accord snaps while I'm driving is the engine shot or will I be capable of repair it?

My car have 118,000 miles on it. I don't know if the timing belt has be changed or not so I know that should be done fairly soon. However, I'm a short time strapped for money since I just bought the saloon. So I was hoping that it would ultimate me until next semester. I be talking to one of my friends, and he get me worried about it. He kept axiom that the engine is shot if the belt snaps. Duh, I know it won't run, but will it really damage the engine to where on earth I cannot repair it.

Anyone with experience next to Honda's please respond..

Answers:    You are taking the chance that the pistons will hit the valve when throwing a timming belt. And yes you can fix it for less very soon or more later.
If it snaps, it'll cost some through money to fix things. Probably more than what you paid for the coup¨¦.
